The government of Rwanda tends to provide legal services for all on decentralized basis in order to provide justice for all (Leave no one behind). In this regards legal aid service providers are being supported to strengthen the capacity building for those who provide legal representation in all judicial proceedings. In order to provide the standardized legal aid services all legal aid service providers are adopting Legal aid standard which will focus on legal aid representation in Gender Based Violence cases, Criminal cases and civil cases.
On 23rd until 24th May 2019, The Rwanda Bar Association Fully supported by USAID Dute izimbere Ubutabera (DIU) have started the training session on Legal aid standards for the Group of Advocates who provide legal aid for indigent and vulnerable people including those who provide legal aid to Minors facing criminal prosecution in all judicial proceedings. This two days session intends to introduce the legal aid standards that they have to follow while providing legal aid services.
This particular training is expected to equip the participants with knowledge on the guidelines of legal aid service provision in Gender Based Violence cases and Criminal cases.
