Service to Advocates

The Rwanda Bar Association provides the following services to its membership:

  1. Training Programmes for Advocates.
  2. CAPA (Certificat d’Aptitude a la Profession d’Avocat) Certification
  3. Medical Insurance for RBA members and their dependants
  4. Providing Towhom it may concern document / Recommendation letter.
  5. Issuing Advocate Cards.

REQUIREMENTS FOR CAPA CERTIFICATION:

  • Being an advocates in good standing.
  • Having passed the CAPA exam.
  • Two recent passport photos in white background.
  • Being dully promoted to the Roll of Advocates.
  • Having paid 5,000 Rwf on the Account number 011-1300306/Barreau de Kigali, at BT Bank (Former Fina Bank)
  • Be in full compliance with the payment of the RBA annual membership fees.
  • Submit the requirements to the Secretariat of the Bar Association each Friday of the week from 08h00 AM to 03:00 PM.
  • Wait for 5 working days from the reception of the application to obtain the certificate.

REQUIREMENTS FOR MEDICAL INSURANCE CARDS:

  • One (1) Colored Passport Photo in white background for every Advocate and his/her dependents (If any)
  • Wedding Certificate (If married)
  • Birth Certificates (If you have children)
  • The amount of 2,500 Rwf for processing each insurance card. e.g. If you have 3 dependents, you should have paid 10,000 Rwf (including yours). It can be paid at RBA Secretariat without depositing it to the Bank.
  • Delivery Time: One Week

REQUIREMENTS FOR TOWHOM / RECOMMENDATION LETTER:

  • Being an Advocate in good standing.
  • Being in full compliance with the payment of the RBA annual membership fees.
  • Letter addressed to the President of Rwanda Bar Association requesting such document.
  • Delivery Time: Maximum 5 working days

REQUIREMENTS FOR HAVING ADVOCATE CARD:

  • Being an Advocate in good standing.
  • Being in full compliance with the payment of the RBA annual membership fees.
  • Having appeared on the Roll of Advocates or on List of interns.
  • Submitting one Colored passport photo (in Gown (Toge))
  • Delivery time: Immediate

    I am an advocate carrying my practice in Kenya, i would like to be enrolled into your bar so that i am free to practice in the republic of Rwanda.
