Seminar of the Grand Lacs Bar Associations

For the bid to promote the Professional confraternity between Advocates from the Great Lakes Region and the Promotion of Rule of Law in the Grates Lakes Region, the Bar Associations of Bujumbura, Bukavu, Goma and Rwanda created in February 2018 un umbrella association called “The Association of Great Lakes Bar Associations” or “Association des Barreaux de la Region des Grands Lacs (ABGL)” in French.

After one year of existence of this association, Advocates from the above three Bar Associations gathered in Kigali on 02nd March 2019 at Lemigo Hotel to celebrate the first anniversary of the association while they took the opportunity to organize a joint seminar on “Procedures for establishing commercial companies as well as Procedures for Business Debt Recovery in Burundi, DRC and Rwanda

This seminar and anniversary attracted around 200 advocates from the aforementioned Bar Associations while three Bar Association attended the Seminar as observers (Gitega/Burundi, Ituri&Tanganyika/DRC).

Participants to the Seminar were satisfied with the experience learned from the three jurisdictions (Burundi, DRC and Rwanda) in as far as business establishment and Debt recovery are concerned while they took an opportunity to network.

The seminar was concluded by the celebration on one year anniversary of the ABGL and a guided Kigali City Tour for the participants.
