15th June 2017, over 80 members of Rwanda Bar Association gathered at Lemigo Hotel / Kigali for Training on UN Guiding Principles on Business & Human Rights. This Training was organized by the East African Law society in partnership with A4ID (Advocates For International Development) and the Rwanda Bar Association.
In his welcome remarks, the Prsident of the Rwanda Bar Association Me Julien Gustave Kavaruganda welcomed A4ID and trainers from Morrison Foerster Law Firm and was also thankfull to the East African Law society for their effort and courage to strengthen the Regional network and promoting professionalism within the regional professional body.
On behalf of the A4ID, Ms. Chara De Lacey, the Interim International Projects Manager at A4ID delivered an introduction and background of the UN GPs training and took opportunity to welcome trainers of the Day.
With Very experienced trainers Mr. Howard Morrison and Yinsey Ai Ping Wang the audience was very interactive whereby trainees contributed to a big extend on topics discussed during this very important training. The main topic discussed along is the Business case for business and Human Rights, Introduction to the UN Guiding principles on business and Human Righs, Developing a Human Rights policy, Remedying Adverse Human Rights impacts and Grievance Mechanisms. The Training included different interesting group Discussion exercises which was one of the most fruitful techniques used by trainers.
